I Went to Films

"When people ask me if I went to film school I tell them, 'no, I went to films'" - Quentin Tarantino

I felt it was only appropriate to open (and title this blog) after one of my favorite directors because I, too, have never went to film school nor am I a world renowned director but I like to think I know a little something about film. That is why this quote speaks to me. One does not need formal training or a degree to do something great and have a profound interest in an art.
Why am I so interested in film? Movies have played an important role in my life for a very long time. Not only do I fall for certain actors and actresses and directors, as well as love the craft and effort to them, I also love how every film has its own association and memory. There are movies I turn to when I am sad, happy, angry... some films have helped me through my life, some have given me the greatest memories I have ever known. They stick with you and even though some may argue they are irrelevant and have no place in society, I wholeheartedly believe otherwise. So, if you are like me and have fallen in love with the cinema just as much as I have, I would love if you would stick around for the ride and read this blog.

ABOUT THE BLOG:
This blog will focus around films from the 1940s until present time and the analysis of them. I will also include posts about actors, actresses, directors, and character analysis. I will focus on film and directing styles and work to make my readers familiar with the terminology of cinema if they are not already. I will also review films that I have watched. I do prefer to focus on older film (anything of the 20th century) than to new releases because I find them to be better quality. This blog is open to anyone whether you are a "movie buff" and want to share your opinions with me or others and want to continue reading up on what you love or if you are new to this world and want to learn something new. I hope everyone will be able to find something here that they enjoy.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
My favorite genres of film include mafia/gangster, horror, drama, and the occasional cheesy rom-com. My preferred time periods are the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Favorite actors are Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson, Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Harvey Keitel just to name a few. Michelle Pfeiffer, Winona Ryder, and Uma Thurman are my favorite actresses however I am more of an actor person. My favorite director is Martin Scorsese but I also like Quentin Tarantino and Brian DePalma. I enjoy collecting DVDs as well as soundtracks, movie posters, and t-shirts with movie quotes. I often read the books that inspired my favorite films. Basically what I am trying to say here is that film is my life.

I hope you will follow along with my posts as well as comment because I would love to hear what you have to say! Also it would be wonderful if you recommended my blog to any friends you would think would be interested!!

Stay Excellent.
